This guide will walk you through the process of setting up a remote ODBC connection in Briq. With a remote ODBC connection, you can establish connectivity without the need for installing an agent on your server. This guide is specifically designed for Sage 300 CRE (Standard), ComputerEase, QuickBooks, and ODBC integrations. Let's get started!

- Create a Domain User.
Steps to configure Remote Connections in Briq
- Select CONNECTIONS from the left menu bar.
- Click ‘ADD CONNECTION’ on the homepage.
- Select your system from the list, and Click “ADD CONNECTION”.
- To setup integration in Briq, you have to connect your database.
- You can configure remote connection using either Whitelisting or VPN
WHITELISTING
Mandatory Steps before Entering Credentials
- Click to download the executable file, and run it as an administrator and Install. Follow this guide to install Briq Agent software in your system Briq Agent Installation - User Guide . This executable facilitates the following changes and processes on your system:
- Windows Remoting Activation: The executable will enable Windows Remoting on your system, which is required for establishing a communication link between your local environment and the Briq platform.
- IP Address Whitelisting: The following IP addresses will be added to a list of approved addresses: 34.69.111.218, 104.198.227.52, 34.70.61.240, 35.232.191.56, 104.154.197.179. This is to ensure that connections from these addresses are permitted and secure.
- Port Accessibility: Ensure that ports 5985 and 5986 are open and accessible. Our system uses these specific ports for communication.
Before installing the Briq Agent, it is important to grant "Log on as a batch job" permission.
Follow these instructions to grant "Log on as a batch job" permission in your system. Setting Up "Log on as a Batch Job" Permission for Briq Agent Installation
- Disregard the prompt to copy the secret key, as it is not required.
- The installer file with the name of the client will get downloaded in your system.
- Right-click on the downloaded installer file and select ‘Run as administrator’ to run it.
- If your operating system prompts you with this warning, click "More info".
- Click ‘Run anyway’.
- If your operating system prompts you with this message, click ‘Yes’.
- The Briq Automate Installer page opens on the screen.
- Select 'Remote Connection', and Click install.
The details including VM Username, VM Password, and Briq Agent are completely optional.
- Now enter Server Details, including the Public IP Address, Username, Password, and required open ports.
- Enter System Details, including ODBC Data Source name, Connection Username, Connection Password, and leave the Connection String field blank.
- Click on “ADD CONNECTION” to successfully establish the connection.
- For Connection using VPN, following the instructions as for Whitelist above. Also enter the VPN details for an SSL VPN Client
- Keep “Run in Cloud” toggled Off
- Select a SSL VPN option from the list
- Enter Host or IP: Port of the VPN
- Enter Group Name (Optional)
- Enter Username
- Enter Password
- Finally, click the "ADD CONNECTION" button to complete the setup process.
- Once the setup process is done, the automation will then verify the credentials input against the system.
- Once the automation is able to verify the connection, a successful authentication will be indicated with the blue tick next to the green Connected chip on the Connections homepage.
If the automation was unable to verify the credentials, the blue tick would not be displayed and the connection would return unhealthy stating “Needs Attention”. In such cases, please reach out to our Briq team for fixing the connection.
